Welcome to the Reclaim Personal Development blog

May 24th, 2009

I would like to start by thanking you for joining my blog. It is here that I intend to share many aspects of personal development and encourage the hearts of women to keep taking steps forward. It does not matter how large the step forward is, the point is that you are further along today than you were yesterday.

The very energy that causes my heart to beat is the hope that my life can be used as an example to encourage others to reclaim their lives. My journey has been a wavering Christian journey but I know deep in my heart that if it was not for Jesus in my life, I would not have the life that I do today. I will never beat you over the head with the Bible and tell you that you must attend church to make your life better; I will never judge you for the steps you have taken or are taking- that is not my job. I will be real with you, tell you when and how I have fallen so that we may have honest and heart felt conversations.

Personal development is the continual growth in your life based on your needs with information from the outside. It is important to be certain the sources from which you are gathering information are authentic and line up with your own personal values. After all the development you are doing is “personal”. When we wander away from our personal values system we are imbalanced and cannot secure happiness no matter how hard we try.

I also suggest find multiple sources of information. It is very affirming when several people are saying the same things. This will give you confidence that you are making the right changes for you. Having several sources of information will allow you decide what is applicable to your life and allow you to choose based on your own personal goals and values.

Be wary of people who TELL you what to do. Wise leaders and facilitators ask question because we know that the answers to your own personal development lie within you.

I look forward to our journey together; I look forward to hearing your input and perspective on the topics of personal development.

As Executive Director of the BC Wildlife Federation, BC's largest conservation organization, it is important that I bring the highest quality trainers and consultants to my board and staff team. Not only have I been struck by Sheila's skill, competence and terrific work ethic in her training and facilitation, but by her ability to bring her very big heart into the work that she does.
